Funny moment at Houhai Aug 29, 2014
HouHai Area is a very busy tourist place full of traditional buildings /narrow lanes/bars/souvenir shops /street food and tricycles. In order to enrich the life of our au pair and help host kids practice English, HHS and our co-worker organize an activity on the morning of August 23rd. HHS Students met with people from UCHarm to help out with some children during the activity. After meeting the Chinese families they did an ice-breaker activity with the children, then proceeded to help them read their instructions. The activity of the day was a sort of scavenger hunt involving finding a street, and taking a picture as proof. Then going to find a traditional Chinese toy, and talk about how it works. Next on the list was finding 2 or 3 traditional Chinese snacks, at some of the many food stalls in the area. Then finally the children picked out a present for their parents. After that everyone returned to the mothers, and they did a presentation about their experience. Then the children gave their mom’s their presents, and the moms did a presentation to their children and gave them a gift as well. It was a funny moment.
