Drop everything and just do it-Matthew,Canada Jul 25, 2014
Living in China has been one of the coolest and most eye-opening experiences of my life. There is no way that I can fit all of my awesome experiences into this short article, so I will say this: Drop everything and just do it. It may seem crazy, flying to a completely different part of the world, but I firmly believe that our greatest life-experiences come from random, spur-of-the-moment decisions. Three things will happen when you arrive: 1. You will be pushed WAY out of your comfort zone (for the better… mostly ;) ) 2. You will see and experience some of the most awesome places and attractions that China has to offer, 3. You are going to make some of the greatest friends of your life, who come from all different parts of the world (This, to me, is the most important part of the experience). I’ve golfed off of the Great Wall, eaten goat testicles, and even joined a band and played music in some of Beijing’s unique and cool bar districts. My host family has been instrumental in my experience here; I can’t thank them enough for all of their support and understanding throughout my adaptation process. They have become like an actual family to me, which I believe is the most that one can ask from a host family. I have been here for 6 months and I feel as though I barely even scratched the surface of what Beijing/China has to offer. Let your instincts guide you, and I promise you will not be disappointed.
